Brian Partridge

Brian Partridge is head of research for both the 451 Research technology research and Kagan media research groups within S&P Global Energy.
Brian has responsibility for leading the analyst team, research process and syndicated research products. This includes driving the overall research agenda and ensuring that S&P Global Market Intelligence delivers the data and insights to help clients make better decisions regarding emerging technologies and innovation.
Before arriving at S&P Global Market Intelligence via acquisition, Brian was VP of research at 451 Research and head of research at Yankee Group. At 451 Research, he founded the IoT research practice. Prior to his research career, which began in 2005, Brian served in marketing leadership roles at leading networking vendors, including 3Com and Cabletron Systems.
As a researcher, Brian actively contributes to the IoT, 5G, enterprise wireless and edge computing research agendas and has subject matter expertise in telecom systems and strategy, enterprise mobility and enterprise networking domains.
Brian holds a BS degree in business administration from the University of New Hampshire and an MBA degree from Plymouth State University.

Eric Hanselman is the chief analyst at S&P Global Energy. He coordinates industry analysis across the broad portfolio of technology, media and telecommunications research disciplines, with an extensive, hands-on understanding of a range of subject areas, including information security, networks and semiconductors and their intersection in areas such as SDN/NFV, 5G and edge computing.
Eric helps S&P Global’s clients navigate these turbulent waters and capitalize on potential outcomes. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, a Certified Information Systems Security Professional and a VMware Certified Professional. Rich Karpinski
Principal Analyst and Head of the Internet of Things (IoT), 451 Research
Rich Karpinski is principal analyst and channel lead for the 451 Research Internet of Things and Applied Infrastructure & DevOps channels within S&P Global Energy. Rich tracks, analyzes and anticipates the pace and direction of IoT adoption, as well as the use of IoT to enable vertical industry transformation. As part of that work, he oversees a quarterly survey of IoT adopters and a twice-annual survey of operations technology (OT) professionals.
Before joining 451 Research (acquired by S&P Global Market Intelligence in 2019), Rich was mobile services analyst for Yankee Group and a technology editor for a range of industry publications in both telecom and enterprise IT.
Rich’s recent areas of concentration include IoT connectivity and managed platform services, IoT edge computing, IT/OT collaboration, IoT market sizing and data flow analysis, IoT digital maturity analysis, and the adoption of IoT use cases across a variety of sectors.

Kelly Morgan is a research director in the 451 Research technology research group at S&P Global Energy. She is responsible for the Datacenter Services & Infrastructure team as well as the M&A practice. Her research includes analysis of datacenter providers, market size, supply/demand, new technology and datacenter industry trends, as well as M&A activity.
Before joining S&P Global Market Intelligence in 2019 via acquisition, Kelly spent more than 18 years covering datacenters and telecommunications at both 451 Research and in private equity. She also worked for several years in Paris at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, managing the organization’s budget process.
Kelly holds a BA degree with honors from Wesleyan University and an MA from Tufts, where she studied international business and economics.

Scott Crawford
Research Director, Information Security, 451 Research
Scott Crawford is research director of the Information Security channel at S&P Global Energy, where he leads the industry analyst team covering innovation, disruption and strategic players in cybersecurity and cyber risk. Scott joined S&P Global through its 2019 acquisition of 451 Research, where he has led the Information Security channel since 2015.
In addition to directing the Information Security channel’s research efforts, Scott covers forces and events shaping cybersecurity. He maintains a focus on areas including security operations, cyber risk management, the intersection of AI/machine learning and cybersecurity, and related interests.
As a practitioner, Scott was the first information security officer for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization’s International Data Centre in Vienna, with a background including systems and security management at the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado. His private-sector experience ranges from startups to leading industry players such as IBM, where Scott was a senior strategist with IBM Security.
Scott holds a Bachelor of Arts in molecular, cellular and developmental biology from the University of Colorado and a postgraduate Master of Science from the University of Salford (UK), with additional graduate study in telecommunications at the University of Colorado and in information systems at the University of Denver.

Sheryl Kingstone

Sheryl Kingstone is head of the software experiences group, which includes the Workforce Productivity & Collaboration, Customer Experience & Commerce, Fintech and Macroeconomic research channels at S&P Global Energy. As a researcher, Sheryl tracks how businesses are spending on technology for the experience economy and how customer experience is a catalyst for digital transformation.
Specifically, she oversees the company's coverage of a variety of customer experience data-driven software markets spanning advertising technology, marketing, sales, commerce and service. She also is responsible for both consumer spending and IT tech spending research products.
Before joining S&P Global Market intelligence via acquisition, she consulted with several enterprise software companies and worked at companies in the enterprise data replication, transformation and database software market.
As a recognized thought leader with more than 25 years of experience in customer experience technologies, Sheryl was awarded the CRM Influential Leaders Award and was also the first female to be inducted into the CRM Hall of Fame.

Chris Marsh manages the Workforce Productivity & Collaboration practice at S&P Global Energy 451 Research, which he established in 2016. His research focuses on the technologies that drive workforce transformation, organizational planning and employee engagement. His knowledge spans enterprise planning; portfolio, project and product management; and various digital workspace solutions, including team collaboration, content management, knowledge management and employee experience.
Chris has 14 years of experience as a technology analyst, including a decade in program and team leadership.
Chris joined S&P Global Market Intelligence following its acquisition of 451 Research in 2019. Prior to that, he was an industry analyst at Yankee Group, which 451 Research acquired in 2013. He also gained valuable experience working in a global customer insights role at Nokia.

Melanie Posey
Research Director, 451 Research
Melanie Posey is a research director at S&P Global Energy. She leads the Cloud & Managed Services Transformation team and manages the Voice of the Enterprise cloud survey.
Melanie has a long history as a technology industry analyst. In 2016, she joined 451 Research (acquired by S&P Global in 2019), bringing experience in strategy analysis, forecasting and enterprise/consumer insight for the cloud, hosting, IT services and telecommunications markets.
Her current research focus is the impact of the cloud operating model on the IT industry, including the changing dynamics of enterprise IT, vendor and service provider strategies, and the ways cloud has evolved into a platform for digital innovation, transformation and implementation of emerging technologies.
Throughout her career, Melanie has been a go-to commentator for the business and technology trade press and is a frequent speaker at industry and client events.
She holds a master’s degree in international relations/international economics from the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, a division of Johns Hopkins University, a master’s degree in political science from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and a bachelor’s degree in French from Amherst College.

James Curtis
Research Director, Data, AI & Analytics, 451 Research
James Curtis is research director of the Data, AI & Analytics channel at S&P Global Energy 451 Research. He also leads the database and data platforms vertical. Previously, he covered business intelligence, analytics and reporting, along with machine learning and data science. James’ current areas of concentration include database and related technology analysis, real-time analytics, cloud computing and cloud-native technologies for database as a service, database optimization tooling, generative AI and retrieval augment generation (RAG) environments, including vector stores and semantic search.
James arrived at S&P Global Market Intelligence through its 2019 acquisition of 451 Research, which he joined in 2015. Prior to 451 Research, he held several senior roles in technology, marketing and communications. He served as VP of a large BPO firm where he oversaw marketing for analytic solutions. He held senior technical marketing roles at Netezza and later at IBM with responsibility for data warehousing, analytics and big-data products. He has managed global programs at HPE and worked as a case editor at Harvard Business School.
James holds a bachelor's degree in English from Utah State University, a master's degree in writing from Northeastern University in Boston and an MBA from Texas A&M University.
