S&P Global Ratings' analysts held a live webinar discussing an emerging trend in green equity designations. We discussed how we work with Nasdaq, B3 and SIX to evaluate a company’s alignment to green equity principles, using our Climate Transition Assessment. Panelists representing stock exchanges discussed how they provide transparency to investors on green companies and the potential for growth.

Key discussion points:

  • New analysis from S&P Global Ratings explores how stock exchanges are offering green equity designations and compares their requirements which largely build on the green equity principles from the World Federation of Exchanges.
  • Nasdaq Nordics first launched its Green Equity and Green Transition Designations in 2021, followed by B3 in Brazil and SIX in Switzerland in 2024.
  • While only 12 companies have thus far attained a green equity qualification, they represent a range across regions and sectors. The green equity market originated in clean tech and real estate companies, with some parallels to the beginning of the green bond market.

Industry experts joining us include:

  • Victoria Powell, Senior Manager for ESG Regulatory Affairs, World Federation of Exchanges
  • Adam Kostyál, President of Nasdaq Stockholm and Head of Listings Europe, Nasdaq

S&P Speakers include:

  • Kristina Alnes, Director, Sustainable Finance, S&P Global Ratings
  • Victor Laudisio, Associate Director, Sustainability Methodologies and Research, S&P Global Ratings

Moderator: Christa Clapp, Global Head of Sustainable Finance Market Analytics, S&P Global Ratings
