Platts discontinues Methane Performance Certificate, Methane Intensity Premium assessments, July 11

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has discontinued its assessments for Methane Performance Certificate (MPCs) and Methane Intensity Premiums, effective July 11, 2025.

This discontinuation follows the July 11 delisting of the underlying MPCs contracts by Xpansiv CBL. The announcement made by Xpansiv CBL can be found here.

Platts has also discontinued its Methane Intensity Premium assessments, effective July 11, which had been calculated using the MPC assessment as an input. Platts previously announced its decision to discontinue the MPCs on May 23 here, and it's decision to discontinue the Methane Intensity Premiums on July 1 here.

This discontinuation does not impact the underlying methane or natural gas intensities published by the S&P Global Commodity Insights Analytics team.

These assessments appeared in Carbon Markets Daily and Gas Daily, as well as fixed pages CMA5001, ETA5001, CMA5002, ETA5002, AGP0122, and PGN0108.

The fixed pages AGP0122 and PGN0108 will continue to publish monthly Methane Intensity data from the S&P Global Commodity Insights Analytics team, publishing on the final business day of the month from July 11.
