July 01, 2025
Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, will discontinue its Methane Intensity Premiums, effective July 11.
This discontinuation follows the forthcoming July 11 delisting of the Methane Performance Certificate contract by Xpansiv CBL, found here, as well as Platts' decision to discontinue the underlying MPC assessment. In its decision to discontinue its MPC assessments, found here, Platts also requested feedback on the Methane Intensity Premiums, which are calculated against the daily Methane Performance Certificate price assessment.
This discontinuation will not impact the underlying methane or natural gas intensities published by the S&P Global Commodity Insights Analytics team.
Platts continues to seek feedback on how methane intensity attributes should be priced.
The last publication date for the premiums will be July 10, 2025. Platts will continue to provide comprehensive coverage of Methane Intensity Premiums through to the discontinuation date.
