Listen: California ISO’s Steve Berberich talks renewables, storage and reliability

Increasing renewable integration is poised to transform the California power grid in the coming years.

Steve Berberich, CEO and president of the California Independent System Operator, talks with Kassia Micek and Kelli Ainsworth, senior pricing specialists on the S&P Global Platts' North American power team, about the impact of increasing renewables and battery storage on the power grid, as well as the ISO's forthcoming implementation of reliability coordinator services.

They also discuss recent power and gas price volatility that resulted in a change in flows between California and the Pacific Northwest, as well as the role that gas plays with an increasing renewables fleet.
