Platts updates the carbon intensity for its US SAF assessments effective June 1

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, has modified the carbon intensity (CI) for its US sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) price assessments, effective June, 1.

Market feedback indicated that the typical market SAF CI was lower than the CI Platts had used in the US SAF assessments.

As a result, Platts has updated the CI for its US SAF assessments to 22 gCO2/MJ from 42 gCO2/MJ.

The assessments and their associated monthly averages affected are as follows:

These changes follow a decision note published on May 22.

Platts publishes its SAF price assessments in Energy Core, Biofuelscan, Biomass-Based Diesel Report, Platts Aviation Weekly, US Marketscan, Oilgram Price Report and fixed pages PB010, PB011, PB012, PRF450, PRF480, PRF483 and PRF158.
