Platts launches B99 Chicago, Houston and New York assessments, updates B100, May 4

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, has launched B99 price assessments for Chicago, Houston, and New York, and has updated its B100 assessment specifications, effective May 4, 2026.

This follows a decision note published on April 3, found here .

New price assessments

Platts has launched three daily B99 biodiesel price assessments, basis FOB Chicago, FOB Houston and FOB New York. Platts publishes the B99 assessments as a premium to NYMEX NY ULSD Settlement Mo01 (NMHO001), and as outright prices, and also provides monthly averages.

The new assessments are as follows:

The B99 assessments reflect 99% biodiesel or Fatty Acid Methyl Ester (FAME) blended with 1% fossil diesel and exclude the D4 biomass-based diesel Renewable Identification Number, the Clean Fuel Production Credit (45Z) and any other state credits.

Platts may normalize price indications with different volumes, varying carbon intensities, delivery dates and delivery modes (truck or rail).

The assessments consider market information reported to Platts and published as heards throughout the day, including firm bids and offers, trades, and indicative values, as well as any other data deemed relevant to the assessment process.

The assessments reflect a 1:30 pm CST market close and follow a US publishing schedule.

Modification to existing B100 assessments

Platts has also modified the B100 Chicago and Houston assessment volumes and quality, and clarified the assessment incoterms.

Platts has adjusted the minimum volume to 125,000 gallons (2,976 barrels) and has removed the maximum volume limit for both assessments. Volumes below the minimum requirement may be considered and normalized to this level.

Platts has also updated the quality from Soy Methyl Ester to FAME to allow the inclusion of other feedstocks.

Platts has additionally clarified that the relevant assessments reflect FOB barge. Rail and truck volumes are considered and may be normalized to reflect in-tank volumes.

The impacted assessments include Biodiesel B100 Chicago (AAURR00), Biodiesel B100 Houston (AAURS00), as well as their respective monthly averages. These assessments reflect 100% biodiesel and factor in both the D4 RIN and the Clean Fuel Production Credit (45Z).

These adjustments more accurately represent the US biodiesel spot market, as indicated by market feedback.

The summary of changes are as follows:

Min: 125,000 gal (2,976 barrels)

In the absence of market indications, Platts will assess the B100 prices using the B99 price assessment plus the D4 RIN and the Clean Fuel Production Credit (45Z).

B100 assessments are available on S&P Global Energy Core as well as on fixed pages PBF010, PBF011, PBF310 and PBF311, as well as in the Platts Biofuelscan and Biomass-Based Diesel Report.

The new assessments will also be published on S&P Global Energy Core and on the same fixed pages and publications as B100 assessments. However, the publication of the new assessments on fixed pages and in publications will not begin until June 1.
