Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, will launch B99 biodiesel price assessments for Chicago, Houston, and New York, and update its B100 assessment specifications, effective May 4, 2026.
Platts previously proposed the launch and update in a subscriber note published here on March 16.
Platts will launch three daily B99 biodiesel price assessments, basis FOB Chicago, FOB Houston, and FOB New York. Platts will publish the B99 assessments as a premium to NYMEX NY ULSD Settlement Mo01 (NMHO001), and as outright prices, and will also provide monthly averages.
The new assessments will be as follows:
| Assessment | Frequency | UOM | Basis and location | Laycan | Quality specifications | Minimum volume |
| B99 Chicago | Daily | cents/gal | FOB Kinder Morgan Argo and Chicago fungible system | Loading 3-10 days forward |
99 % FAME , ASTM specs D6751 biodiesel CI 28.51 gCO2/MJ |

The B99 assessments will reflect 99% biodiesel or Fatty Acid Methyl Ester (FAME) blended with 1% fossil diesel and will exclude the D4 biomass-based diesel Renewable Identification Number, the Clean Fuel Production Credit (45Z), and any other state credits.
Normalization will apply to different fuel volumes, higher or lower carbon intensity, delivery dates, as well as delivery by truck and rail.
The assessments will consider market information reported to Platts and published as heards throughout the day, including firm bids and offers, trades, and indicative values, as well as any other data deemed relevant to the assessment process.
The new assessments will be published at 1:30 pm CST and will follow a US publishing schedule.
Platts will also modify the B100 Chicago and Houston assessment volumes and quality, and clarify the assessment incoterms.
Platts will adjust the minimum volume to 125,000 gallons (2,976 barrels) and remove the maximum volume limit for both assessments. Volumes below the minimum requirement may be considered and normalized to this level.
Platts will also update the quality from Soy Methyl Ester to FAME to allow the inclusion of other feedstocks.
Platts would additionally like to clarify that the relevant assessments reflect FOB barge. Rail and truck volumes will be considered and may be normalized to reflect in-tank volumes.
The impacted assessments will include Biodiesel B100 Chicago (AAURR00), Biodiesel B100 Houston (AAURS00), as well as their respective monthly averages. These assessments reflect 100% biodiesel and factor in both the D4 RIN and the Clean Fuel Production Credit (45Z).
These adjustments will more accurately represent the US biodiesel spot market, as indicated by market feedback.
The changes will be as follows:
| Current | Effective May 4 | |
| Volume |
Min: 150 barrels Max: 3000 barrels |
Min: 125,000 gal (2,976 barrels) |
| Quality | SME |
FAME, ASTM specs D6751 CI 28.51 gCO2/MJ |
| Incoterm | FOB barge | FOB barge. Truck and rail may be normalized |
In the absence of market indications, Platts may assess the B100 prices using the B99 price assessment plus the D4 RIN and the Clean Fuel Production Credit (45Z).
B100 assessments are available on fixed pages PBF010, PBF011, PBF310, and PBF311, as well as in the Platts Biofuelscan and Biomass-Based Diesel Report. The new assessments will also be published within these same fixed pages and publications.
