Platts updates European RD (HVO) barge basis to FARAG, May 1

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, has updated the basis location for its European renewable diesel (HVO) assessments, effective May 1, 2026.

The change better reflects the European spot market, based on market feedback.

As of May 1, the Platts European renewable diesel assessments reflect transactions on an FOB basis, loading in the ports of Flushing-Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp-Ghent (FARAG).

The assessments previously reflected material on an FOB Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) basis.

The assessments and their associated symbol nomenclature have been updated.

The other specifications remain unchanged.

The assessments affected and the updated basis location are listed in the table below:

The monthly averages have also been updated in line with the basis location update.

Platts launched the European renewable diesel daily assessments May 1, 2024.

The assessments are published on pages PBF1010, PBF1012 and PBF1013, and the daily Platts Biofuelscan report and Weekly Biomass-Based Diesel Report.
