Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, will update the basis location for its European renewable diesel (HVO) assessments, effective May 1, 2026.
The change will better reflect the European spot market based on market feedback.
From May 1, the Platts European renewable diesel assessments will reflect transactions on an FOB basis, loading in the ports of Flushing, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Antwerp and Ghent (FARAG). This reflects the ports where Northwest European renewable diesel volumes are being loaded and traded.
The assessment currently reflects material on an FOB Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) basis.
The assessments and their associated symbol nomenclature will be updated to reflect the ports.
The other specifications will remain unchanged.
The assessments affected and the update to the location are listed in the table below:

Platts continuously reviews its assessment methodology and seeks to reflect the most up-to-date specifications observed for its market coverage.
The monthly averages will also be updated in line with the basis location update.
Platts launched the European renewable diesel daily assessments May 1, 2024.
The assessments are published on pages PBF1010, PBF1012 and PBF1013 and the daily Platts Biofuelscan report and Weekly Biomass-Based Diesel Report.
