Platts discontinues 2026 Netherlands HBE assessments, Jan. 2
Platts, a part of S&P Global Energy, has discontinued its current-year (2026) Netherlands HBE assessments, effective Jan. 2, 2026.
The discontinuation is due to the Netherlands switching from the renewable energy units, or HBE, scheme to a carbon emissions reduction model, or ERE, from January 2026.
This follows a decision published here on Aug. 27 and a proposal published here on July 25, 2025.
Details of the discontinued assessments are as follows.

Platts HBE assessments for the following year-ahead (2026) were also discontinued effective Nov. 3. The following previous-year (2025) assessments will be discontinued effective May 1, 2026, after the obligation deadline for the 2025 compliance year.

As a result, Platts will no longer publish Dutch HBE price assessments effective May 1, 2026, in Platts Connect, Biofuelscan, Carbon Markets Daily, Ethanol Weekly Report, Biomass-Based Diesel Report and fixed pages PB1010, PB1012, PB1014 and PB1015.
