Platts changes EU Guarantees of Origin assessments to AIB Guarantees of Origin

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, has changed the specification of its EU Guarantees of Origin price assessments to AIB Guarantees of Origin, effective Jan. 2, 2026.

Platts published its decision to make the change on Dec. 5, available here.

This change means that the GO prices reflect certificates of origin in the AIB member countries that have European Energy Certification System (EECS) certification.

Prior to the change effective Jan. 2, 2026, Platts EU GO assessments reflected EU Wind, EU Solar and EU Biomass from EU member states with EECS certification. The AIB aggregates national registry data from each AIB member country.

This change aims to make Platts GO assessments more reflective of the contracts traded in the European market and better define the country origin of the certificates.

Platts' Nordic Hydro assessments remain unchanged.
