Vietnam cement prices rise to $39.50/mt FOB WOW

Engineering firm KHD Humboldt Wedag commissioned a new processing line at a cement plant operated by JSW Cement in Nagaur, Rajasthan, the company said in a LinkedIn post on March 16.

The project, executed by Humboldt Wedag India, involves an 8,000 metric ton/day pyroprocessing line and was commissioned in February 2026, according to the post.

Pyroprocessing is the high-temperature stage of cement production where raw materials are converted into clinker, the key intermediate used to make cement.

Several Asian traders and producers said that the commissioning underscores continued investment in large-scale kiln lines in India, as producers seek to enhance operational efficiency and meet rising cement demand driven by infrastructure and construction activity.

"We have seen Indian cement manufacturers expanding their clinker or cement processing capacity, such as the ones from Shree Cement and UltraTech Cement," said a Southeast Asia-based trader.

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, assessed cement (ASTM type I) FOB Vietnam at $39.50/mt on March 12, up from $39/mt the previous week. Platts also assessed cement clinker FOB Vietnam at $36.50/mt, up from $36/mt the previous week.
