Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has launched new weekly US Gulf Coast carbon black spot assessments, effective Dec. 20, 2024.
The new assessments were originally proposed in a subscriber note published on Oct. 28 and available here, with a subsequent decision note published on Nov. 20 and available here.
Details of the assessments are as follows:

All market information reported to Platts may be considered and would be published in real time, including firm bids and offers, trades and indicative values, as well as any other data deemed relevant to the assessment process.
Pricing information for material with other specifications and terms may be normalized to the standard.
The assessments will reflect spot prices at 1:30 pm US CT every Friday and will follow the US publication schedule.
A weekly commentary will be published on Fridays and will appear in Olefinscan and on Platts Connect.
