Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, has updated the sulfur specifications for its low- and mid-high sulfur US West Coast petroleum coke (petcoke) price assessments effective Dec. 1, 2025.
Platts proposed the specification amendments to its assessments in a subscriber note published Oct. 20, 2025, following research and market engagement. Platts then announced its decision in a subscriber note published Nov. 3, 2025.
The FOB US West Coast Mid-Sulfur Petcoke assessment now reflects a sulfur range of 3%-5%, while the FOB US West Coast Low-Sulfur Petcoke assessment now reflects a sulfur range of 1%-2.9%.
The updated assessments are as follows:

These updates also include the related monthly and quarterly averages.
The assessments continue to reflect cargoes of 10,000 mt or more.
