Platts clarifies previous-year vintage assessment period for upcoming Netherlands EREs

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, would like to clarify its assessment period for the previous-year vintage of its upcoming Netherlands emission reduction units (emissiereductie-eenheden, or ERE) price assessments.

This follows a decision published here regarding the launch of the Netherlands ERE price assessments effective Jan. 2, 2026.

The previous-year vintage will be assessed from the first working day of the year until the last working day of March, instead of the last working day of April as previously stated. This follows recent communication from the Dutch Emissions Authority stating that obligated parties must have sufficient EREs in their account by April 1 each year to meet the obligation.

Effective Jan. 2, 2026, Platts will assess:

  • current-year vintage from January to December
  • next-year vintage from November-December
  • previous-year vintage from January-March (starting 2027)
