Platts amends basis locations for its polyolefins CFR Mercosur assessments Sept 25

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has narrowed the basis location for its CFR Mercosur polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) assessments to Montevideo (Uruguay) and Buenos Aires (Argentina), effective Sept. 25, 2025.

Platts, in its previous methodology specifications, identified Asunción (Paraguay) as a par port, alongside Montevideo and Buenos Aires.

However, market feedback indicates that the logistics and delivery costs to Asuncion do not align with those of Montevideo and Buenos Aires, resulting in a consistent divergence of values between Asunción and other locations in the region.

The assessments are published under the following symbols:

The CFR Mercosur PE and PP assessments are published every Wednesday, and in accordance with the Brazil holiday publishing schedule, in Polymerscan (PO) and Latin American Polymerscan (POLA), as well as on Platts Connect and in the Platts Price Point database.

Information received for other basis locations and under other incoterms, such as CPT and CIF, may also be considered, subject to normalization, as clarified here.

Platts previously decided the change in a note published on Aug. 28, 2025, available here.
