Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, will launch a weekly long-term container freight assessment effective Oct. 1, 2025.
The long-term assessment will complement Platts current coverage by providing a window into the market's forward sentiment. While spot rates track real-time volatility, long-term agreements highlight shippers' willingness to lock in costs and carrier appetite to secure revenue stability.
Platts initially proposed the above assessment on Aug. 8 in a subscriber note here.
The assessment will have the following specifications:
Assessment Name | North Asia – North Continent (Europe) |
Units | $/FEU |
Timing | Loading 10 – 365 days forward from the date of publication |
Timestamp | 16:30 London close |
The assessment will reflect the transactable value at 1630 London time, for transporting a 40-feet equivalent, or FEU, container on the North Asia-North Continent route, for loading 10 to 365 days forward from the date of publication. The assessment will follow the London publishing schedule and be published weekly in the Platts Containers Daily Report.
The relevant geographic descriptions for the routes are:
North Asia: Tokyo to Hong Kong
North Continent: Bilbao to Hamburg
