Platts updates US Recycled Polymer Assessment names to reflect ex-works Incoterm

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has amended the incoterm of its US Recycled Polymer assessments, effective Aug. 1, 2025, in response to market feedback received.

The assessments are now being published on an ex-works (EXW) basis, having previously been published on an FOB basis.

The change to ex-works (EXW), which indicates material ready to be picked up by the buyer by railcar or truck at the seller's premises, will better reflect common market practice in the domestic US recycled plastic market.

Pricing information with terms, locations, and specifications different from the above standard may be considered for assessment purposes, subject to normalization.

This change impacts the following daily assessments, in cents/lb, along with all associated averages and conversions.

The incoterm, symbol, name, and description changes are as follows:

These assessments are published on the fixed pages PCA0441, PCA0574, and PCA0624, in Polymerscan and Sustainable Polymerscan, Platts Connect, and in the Platts price database under the above-mentioned codes.

Platts previously communicated this change in a proposal note on June 13, 2025, and a decision note on July 3, 2025.
