Platts launches CFR Med sulfur assessment; change specifications for several sulfur assessments July 3
Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has launched the CFR Mediterranean crushed lump sulfur spot price, along with adjusting the current specifications for multiple sulfur assessments, effective July 3.
This is aimed at adding further granularity to the sulfur coverage in the EMEA region.
The crushed lump price will be assessed as a weekly single-numberassessment. The published price would also reflect a low-high range based on +/-$1/ mt on each end of the single number assessment.
The price will follow the specifications below -

In a bid to improve the scope of several existing assessments, Platts has refined the specifications of the following price assessments.
Platts now assesses the below sulfur prices as a weekly single number, which will then be published with a low-high range with plus/minus $1/ mt on each side.

As a result of the above adjustments, the CFR Mediterranean Granular & Crushed Lump, Spot - small lots, ( FSSMA04) will be assessed as a range assessment with the low and high derived from the new single number assessment AGRNI00 and the single number assessment for the CFR Mediterranean, Granular, spot - small lots ( FSSMB04).
For example, if FSSMB04 is assessed at $190/mt and new CFR Med crushed lump, spot - small lots ( AGRNI00) at $200/mt; the FSSMA04 would be calculated as a range of $190-$200/mt.
The specifications for FSSMA04 will be aligned to a quantityof 8,000 mt; basis location as CFR Mediterranean basis Abu Qir, Egypt; timing: product to be delivered two-to-six weeks forward; basis: Non-Russian origin.
Platts first proposed this launch, along with the methodology changes here on May 9.
