Platts changes CFR India phosphoric acid assessment July 3

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has amended the specifications of its CFR India phosphoric acid assessment, effective July 3, 2025.

Platts has made changes to the duty status, quantity, timing and basis and location specifications of the assessment. The changes are intended to provide a more precise assessment of market value.

Duty, quantity, timing and basis and location specifications

The assessment is refined to be duty-unpaid dutiable phosphoric acid, incurring the standard rate of duty, currently 5%.

Price information related to duty-unpaid dutiable phosphoric acid that incurs a different duty percentage and duty-free phosphoric acid is normalized to this basis, where applicable and possible.

Platts has also changed the quantity specification to a basis of 10,000-35,000 mt of phosphoric acid solution (52%-54% P2O5) to better reflect typical transaction sizes. Platts normalizes information to this point where necessary. Previously, the weekly assessment reflected a minimum 6,000 mt P2O5 phosphoric acid clip size.

Phosphoric acid is typically priced and assessed per mt of 100% P2O5, but is transported in dilute form, so that the price per mt of (52%-54%) cargo received differs from the assessed price per mt of (100%) P2O5.

The location specification of the assessment has also been narrowed, with Kakinada on the East Coast of India as a basis, and price information relating to other relevant Indian ports normalized to this point, where applicable and possible.

Platts has launched a single number close value for the assessment.

In line with the current regular weekly cadence of this assessment, the assessment name is changed from "Phosphoric Acid (100% P2O5) CFR India $/mt Qtly" to "Phosphoric Acid (100% P2O5) CFR India."

The revised specifications for the assessment read as follows:

FPAIA04 – Phosphoric Acid (100% P2O5) CFR India

· Quantity: Basis 10,000 mt to 35,000 mt Phosphoric Acid solution
