June 02, 2025
Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has discontinued its US monoethylene glycol contract price assessment (PHAXG04) due to its decreasing relevance, effective June 2, 2025.
The discontinued assessment was a monthly fiber-grade contract price for MEG, reflecting a product with a minimum purity of 99.8%, that was calculated based on an average of two Asia contract price (ACP) nominations, minus the US-Far East Asia liquid chemicals freight for 5,000 mt parcels.
Platts announced the discontinuation in a proposal note Feb. 21, 2025, which can be seen in a subscriber note here(opens in a new tab).
The discontinuation follows Platts' decision to discontinue publishing Shell's monthly MEG Asia contract price from January 2025, which can be seen in a subscriber note here(opens in a new tab).
Platts will continue to publish weekly monoethylene glycol spot price assessments on an FOB US Gulf Coast basis under the symbol PHAXF04.
The affected assessment was published on fixed pages PCA0236, PCA0305 and PCA0438, as well as in the Olefinscan and Polymerscan publications, and on Platts Connect.
