Platts launches FOB Netherlands soybean meal assessment May 1

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has launched a new daily price assessment for Soybean Meal, FOB Netherlands, effective May 1.

The Netherlands represents a significant trading hub for soybean meal in the EU, itself home to some of the region's largest producers of animal feed. Soybean meal is a key component of feed for the poultry, pork, and beef sectors, for which Platts launched coverage in 2024. Details of this can be found here(opens in a new tab).

The specifications of the new price assessment are as follows

Basis and location: FOB Rotterdam/Amsterdam

Quality: Min 46% protein content, Moisture 13.5% max, Fiber 7% max

Quantity: Min 1,000 mt – Max 3,000 mt

Timing: Loading 30 to 45 days from the date of publication

Payment terms: Cash against documents

FOB Netherlands soybean meal is assessed daily in Eur/mt as an outright price and published under the symbol EUPMQ00, with a monthly average to be published under the symbol EUPMQ03. Platts also publishes a conversion to US dollars per metric ton using the relevant Eur/$ exchange rate (AAFCW00). FOB Netherlands soybean meal $/mt will be published under the symbol EUPMR00 and the monthly average will be published under the symbol EUPMR03.

The assessments consider market information reported to Platts, published as heards throughout the day, including firm bids and offers, trades, indicative values, and any other data deemed relevant to the assessment process.

The daily assessments reflect a 4:30 pm London timestamp and follow the Platts London publishing schedule.
