Platts decides to update factor to convert LNG to $/GJ in LNG bunker assessments

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodities Insights, has decided to update the calculations of LNG prices per energy content to reflect the Platts standard conversion rates, effective Jan. 31, 2023.

Platts originally proposed this change to be effective Jan. 23, and the proposal note can be found here.

These price series, expressed in $/GJ, would be calculated by dividing the base $/MMBtu LNG prices into respective regions by 1.055.

The conversion factor would be aligned with the Platts base rates guide available here.
