Listen: What can the oil market expect at the OPEC meeting in Vienna?

In the inaugural episode of the S&P Global Platts OPEC Outlook podcast, Herman Wang, Platts OPEC correspondent, discusses what to watch for when the oil producer group's ministers meet on May 25 with their non-OPEC counterparts to review their production cut agreement. Ministers appear to be aligning behind an extension of the cuts, but as always with OPEC, surprises could be in store.

Can OPEC coexist with US shale and still manage the market? How does OPEC see global demand shaping up in the second half of the year? Will compliance remain strong among OPEC’s deal participants? We also take a look at the latest Platts OPEC survey and how the production estimates may factor into an extension of the deal.

And in our "Get to Know an OPEC Member" series, we talk to Sara Vakhshouri, president of SVB Energy International and a fellow at the Atlantic Council in Washington, on all things Iran. What is the outlook for its oil industry as it attempts to regain its pre-sanctions market share? How might the May 19 presidential election impact Iran’s oil policy? And how worried should Iran be about US President Donald Trump’s review of the nuclear deal, which lifted sanctions on Iran’s oil sector in exchange for nuclear concessions?
