Platts to amend the CFR Brazil polyethylene laycan to 40-70 days forward

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, will amend the delivery timing specification of its existing polyethylene (PE) CFR Brazil spot assessments from 20-40 days forward to 40-70 days forward to better reflect prevailing spot trading norms, effective November 18.

The change was originally proposed in a note available here on September 21.

Following feedback, Platts will continue to consult the market on the introduction of an additional laycan of 71-100 days forward delivery for polyethylene (PE) CFR Brazil spot assessment coverage, which was also proposed in the note published September 21.

Platts will continue to consider merchantable open origin cargoes, excluding duties, for assessment purposes.

The assessments will continue to reflect the following major ports in Brazil: Santos, Itajai, Sao Francisco do Sul/Itapoa, Suape, Salvador, Navegantes and Paranaguá.

The assessments will be published on Wednesdays at 1:30 PM (US Central Time) and follow the Brazil publishing calendar.
