Platts to discontinue the Atlantic DR pellet premium (basis IODEX) from Feb. 1, 2027
Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, will discontinue its Atlantic Iron ore 67.5% Fe DR pellet premium assessment (basis IODEX) effective Feb. 1, 2027.
The decision to discontinue its Atlantic Iron ore 67.5% Fe DR pellet premium assessment (basis IODEX) (IODRP00) comes following Platts' observation of higher liquidity and market participants' preference for contract settlements of Atlantic Iron ore DR pellet basis 65% Fe fines.
Platts will continue to publish its existing Atlantic Iron ore 67.5% Fe DR Pellet Premium (basis 65% Fe fines) assessment (IODBP00) and related Iron Ore 67.5% Fe DR Pellet all-in calculation (IODBR00).
Platts first proposed this discontinuation in a subscriber note published on Sept. 18, available here.
The discontinuation will affect the following assessment:
| Symbol | Description | Frequency | Quality | Dimensions | UOM |
| IODRP00 | Iron Ore 67.5% Fe DR Pellet Premium (basis IODEX) | Monthly |
67.5% Fe DR pellet, 0.5% alumina, 1.5% silica, max 2.5% silica and alumina combined, 300 Cold Crushing Strength (CCS) |
Sizing over 9 mm >94% | $/dmt |
Detailed specifications can be found in the Platts Global Iron Ore Specification Guide, available here.
The assessments are published in SBB Steel Markets Daily and on fixed pages STL1160 and PMA1160.
