Platts proposes to discontinue the Atlantic DR pellet premium (basis IODEX) from Feb 1, 2027

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, proposes to discontinue its Atlantic Iron ore 67.5% Fe DR pellet premium assessment (basis IODEX) effective Feb. 1, 2027.

The proposal comes following Platts' observations, as well as market feedback about preference for contract settlements using the Atlantic Iron ore DR pellet premium (basis 65% Fe). The discontinuation is in addition to Platts' proposal to discontinue the Atlantic BF pellet premium (basis IODEX), effective Jan. 3, 2028, and will streamline its suite of Atlantic pellet assessments.

The monthly Platts Atlantic Iron ore 67.5% Fe DR Pellet Premium (basis 65% Fe fines) assessment will remain unaffected and will continue to be assessed on the first business day of each month, reflecting prevailing industry-settled contracts for Atlantic iron ore DR pellets. In the event there are no confirmed settlements for DR pellets loading on the month the assessment is published, Platts may consider provisional contract pricing and related market data, in line with established methodology.
