Platts to update volume and location specifications for its global Molybdenum Oxide Daily Dealer (MMAYQ00) assessment

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, will update its volume specification and include in-warehouse Nhava Sheva/Mumbai as base location for its global molybdenum oxide dealer (MMAYQ00) assessment, effective Nov. 2, 2026.

The change follows recent market feedback and observations that trades executed in the Indian spot market for molybdenum oxide powder are largely done on an in-warehouse Nhava Sheva/Mumbai basis.

In addition, feedback to the Aug. 14 proposal to change the minimum volume specification suggested there was no significant price difference for larger than 24 metric ton trades.

Under this change, the location and volume specifications reflected in the global assessment would be as follows:

Assessment Code New Quantity New Locations
Molybdenum Oxide Powder (Global) $/lb Mo MMAYQ00 Minimum 18 mt

IW: Rotterdam, Shanghai, Tianjin, Busan, US, Nhava Sheva/India

CIF: Japan

Molybdenum Oxide Powder (Global) $/mt Mo MMBYQ00 Minimum 18 mt

IW: Rotterdam, Shanghai, Tianjin, Busan, US, Nhava Sheva/India

CIF: Japan

The assessments impacted by the change include:

Assessment name UOM Daily Assessment Code Monthly Average Code Weekly Average Code Yearly Average Code Month-to-date Code
Molybdenum Oxide Daily Dealer (Global) $/lb Mo MMAYQ00 MMAYQ03 MMAGQ00 MMAYQ16 MMAYQ05
Molybdenum Oxide Daily Dealer (Global) $/mt Mo MMBYQ00 MMBYQ03 N/A MMBYQ16 MMBYQ05

While the launch of new daily price calculations in euros and yuan was initially proposed, Platts will not proceed with the publication of any new FX converted price calculations for now, as this did not receive broader market support.
