Platts proposes to launch Romanian PVT natural gas assessments
Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, proposes to launch natural gas price assessments for the Romanian Punctul Virtual de Tranzactionare (PVT) market, effective Dec. 1, 2026.
Romania is on course to become a top natural gas producer in the EU during 2027, at a time when the bloc is seeking to phase out imports of Russian pipeline gas and LNG. This is expected to increase liquidity in this emerging hub.
Platts proposes to launch the following assessments:
| Daily Assessments (1:00 pm time stamp) | Unit |
| Within-day PVT | Leu/MWh |
| Day-ahead PVT | Leu/MWh |
| Flow-date, day-ahead PVT | Leu/MWh |
| Within-day PVT | €/MWh |
| Day-ahead PVT | €/MWh |
| Flow-date, day-ahead PVT | €/MWh |
| Day-ahead TTF | €/MWh |
| Day-ahead PVT-TTF | €/MWh |
| Weekly Assessments (1:00 pm time stamp) | Unit |
| Weekend PVT | Leu/MWh |
| Weekend PVT | €/MWh |
| Weekend TTF | €/MWh |
| Weekend PVT-TTF | €/MWh |
The price assessments would follow the Platts UK publishing schedule. The weekly assessments would be published on Fridays, or on the previous working day before a UK public holiday.
Platts would also publish monthly average assessments for the PVT day-ahead and PVT flow-date on the first day of the month following trade, in both Leu/MWh and €/MWh.
The foreign exchange rate for the Romanian leu against the euro would also be assessed daily at 1:00 pm.
