Platts launches new JKM forward cargo eWindow instruments and third monthly JKM Forwards assessment

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, has launched new JKM forward cargo instruments in the Platts Editorial Window (eWindow) communication tool for its Platts JKM price assessments, as well as a third JKM forwards monthly assessment in the Asia-Pacific LNG physical Market on Close assessment process, effective Oct. 1.

The new instruments cover the seventh half-month, or H+7, through the tenth half-month, or H+10, forward delivery cycles from the date of publication. These instruments complement the currently published third half-month, or H+3, through the sixth half-month, or H+6, delivery cycles.

For example, on Oct. 1, 2026, Platts publishes DES JKTC and DES Thailand cargoes for delivery from Nov. 1, 2026, through Feb. 28, 2027. On Oct. 16, Platts publishes DES JKTC and DES Thailand cargoes for delivery from Nov. 16, 2026, through March 15, 2027.

The launch reflects market interest in greater price transparency for the forward physical value of LNG cargoes delivered to Asia.

Delivery period

For bids and offers published in the eighth half-month H+8 through tenth half-month H+10 delivery cycles, the initial delivery window should be three days. The buyer should narrow this to a one-day delivery window 30 days before the first day of the initial delivery window.

Where a four- or five-day delivery window is specified, bids and offers must state when the buyer retains the option to narrow the delivery window to three days, subject to normalization. Final nomination deadlines, delivery locations, and specifications will follow standard Platts JKM terms as outlined in the Platts LNG methodology and specifications guides.

JKM Forwards

MOC information published through the new forward cargo instruments will be considered in the assessment of Platts JKM Forwards.

Platts begins publishing a third monthly JKM forwards assessment in addition to the two currently published. For example, on Oct. 1, 2026, JKM Forwards assessments reflect December 2026, January 2027, and February 2027 deliveries.

MOC information published for the H+7 delivery cycle will be considered in assessing the market structure of the H+6 JKM cargo price assessment. All other Asia-Pacific LNG MOC functionality will remain unchanged.

The eWindow instruments generate real-time headlines for bids, offers and trades published on Platts LNG Alert. Guidelines governing the publication of bids and offers are set out in the LNG Timing and Increment Guidelines.

Platts first proposed launching new eWindow instruments and JKM Forwards assessment on Sept. 7, 2026 and follows a decision note on Sept. 22, 2026.
