Platts proposes new JKM forward cargo eWindow instruments, JKM Forwards assessment Oct. 1, 2026

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, is proposing to launch JKM forward cargo instruments in the Platts Editorial Window (eWindow) communication tool for its Platts JKM price assessments, as well as a third JKM forwards monthly assessment in the Asia-Pacific LNG physical Market on Close assessment process, effective Oct. 1, 2026.

The proposed instruments would cover the seventh half-month (H+7) through tenth half-month (H+10) forward delivery cycles from the date of publication, complementing the currently published third half-month (H+3) through sixth half-month (H+6) delivery cycles.

For example, on Oct. 1, 2026, Platts would publish DES JKTC and DES Thailand cargoes for delivery between Nov. 1, 2026, and Feb. 28, 2027. On Oct. 16, Platts would publish DES JKTC and DES Thailand cargoes for delivery between Nov. 16, 2026, and March 15, 2027.

The proposal reflects market interest in increased price transparency for the forward physical value of LNG cargoes delivered to Asia.

Delivery period

For bids and offers published in the eighth half-month (H+8) through tenth half-month (H+10) delivery cycles, the initial delivery window would span three to five days. Where a four- or five-day delivery window is specified, bids and offers must state when the buyer retains the option to narrow the delivery window to three days, either 45 or 60 days before the start of the initial delivery period.

Final nomination deadlines, delivery locations and specifications would follow standard Platts JKM terms as outlined in the Platts LNG methodology and specifications guides.

JKM Forwards

MOC information published through the proposed forward cargo instruments would be considered in the assessment of Platts JKM Forwards.

As part of the proposal, Platts would begin publishing a third monthly JKM forwards assessment in addition to the two currently published. For example, on Oct. 1, 2026, JKM Forwards assessments would reflect December 2026, January 2027, and February 2027 deliveries.

MOC information published for the H+7 delivery cycle would be considered in the assessment of the market structure of the H+6 JKM cargo price assessment. All other Asia-Pacific LNG MOC functionality would remain unchanged.
