Platts launches B100 Advanced FAME delivered Rotterdam biobunker assessment Oct. 1
Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, has launched a daily B100 Advanced fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) delivered Rotterdam biobunker assessment, effective Oct. 1, 2026.
Platts understands that the demand for marine fuels offering higher greenhouse gas emissions savings has increased in response to FuelEU Maritime and the inclusion of shipping in the EU Emissions Trading System.
The new assessment reflects neat Advanced FAME produced from feedstocks listed in Annex IX Part A of the Renewable Energy Directive and meeting EN 14214 specifications. Biofuels eligible for inclusion are required to hold proof of sustainability issued under voluntary schemes approved by the European Commission, qualify as Advanced under Dutch regulations, and achieve a minimum greenhouse gas emissions savings of 80% relative to the fossil fuel comparator specified under the Renewable Energy Directive.
In line with market feedback, the new assessment considers biobunker stems with volumes ranging from 200 to 600 metric tons. Market participants indicated that typical B100 Advanced FAME stem sizes in Rotterdam fall within this range. Platts announced the range in a decision published Sept. 3, following the 200-1,000 mt range initially proposed in an Aug. 3 subscriber note.
Additionally, the new assessment reflects biobunker stems for delivery 5 to 10 days forward on a delivered Rotterdam basis. The assessment is inclusive of barging and associated costs for delivery into the receiving ship and expressed in US dollars/mt.
The assessment specifications are as follows:
| Assessment | Pricing basis | Symbol | Delivery basis | Delivery period | Volume |
| B100 Biobunkers Advanced FAME Rotterdam | Outright | ABKRG00 | Delivered | 5–10 days forward | 200-600 mt |
Platts may consider other delivery periods, volumes, delivery methods, and relevant nearby locations and normalize them to the above specifications.
The published assessment reflects discounts applied by suppliers in connection with Emission Reduction Units.
The assessment considers information reported to Platts and published as heards throughout the day, including firm bids and offers, trades, and indicative price information, as well as any other data deemed relevant to the assessment process.
The daily assessment reflects a 16:30 London time market close and follows the Platts UK publishing schedule.
The assessment is published in Platts Biofuels Alert, the Bunkerwire Report, Bunkerwire Monthly, Biofuelscan Report, and Biomass-Based Diesel Report, as well as on Energy Core and on fixed pages PBF0008 and PBF0009.
