Platts refines specifications for two MOP FOB Vancouver assessments from Sept. 15

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, has updated the specifications of its FOB Vancouver standard (FKCIB04) and granular (FKCIM04) muriate of potash (MOP) price assessments, effective Sept. 15, 2026.

The amendments are intended to better reflect potash market dynamics in the Americas region. The assessment specifications are as follows:

Assessment Name: Potassium Chloride (Standard) FOB Vancouver Spot $/mt (FKCIB04) Potassium Chloride (Standard) FOB Vancouver Spot $/mt (FKCIB04)
Quality: Standard KCl Standard-grade potassium chloride (KCl), 60%-61% potassium oxide (K2O) content
Quantity: Minimum 6,000 metric tons 30,000-50,000 mt
Basis and location:

Based on spot sales.

Country: Canada.

Loading ports: Vancouver (Canada), Moody (Canada), Portland (US), Thunder Bay (US).

Where no standard-grade MOP sales have been confirmed, Platts reporters can use the known granular MOP price and apply the prevailing price differential if appropriate.

These assessments are published on Energy Core, in the Platts Fertecon Potash Market Report and on the fixed page FEA0365. The prices are assessed on Tuesdays at 1630 São Paulo time and follow the São Paulo publishing schedule.
