Platts to launch daily M1, M2 butadiene FOB Rotterdam assessments Sep 21

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, will launch two new daily FOB Rotterdam butadiene spot price assessments effective Sept. 21.

These assessments will complement the existing Platts spot assessment for butadiene loading 3-30 days forward in Northwest Europe (PHAKG00) and will mirror its terms and specifications.

The assessments will reflect lots of minimum 1,000 metric tons of butadiene, with a minimum purity of 99.5%.

The assessments will reflect loading within the current (M1) and next (M2) months. The assessments' loading months will roll to the next month three working days prior to the next month.

For example, in July, the M1 assessment would reflect material loading any time in July, and M2 in August. On July 29, the M1 assessment would roll over to reflect butadiene loading in August, and M2 in September.

The assessment was first proposed on July 23 in a subscriber note available here.

The new assessments will have a 16:30 London time stamp and will follow the UK publishing schedule.

Platts European butadiene price assessments can be found in Olefinscan and on S&P Global Energy Core, accompanied by a weekly commentary and rationale published on Fridays.
