July 23, 2026
Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, is proposing two new daily FOB Rotterdam butadiene spot price assessments, in order to provide greater intermonth pricing transparency to the market, effective Sept. 21.
These assessments, expressed in $/mt, would complement Platts existing assessment for butadiene loading 3-30 days forward in Northwest Europe (PHAKG00), and would mirror its terms and specifications.
The proposed assessments would reflect a minimum of 1,000 mt lots of butadiene product with a minimum purity of 99.5%.
The assessments would reflect loading within the current (M1) and next (M2) months. The assessments' loading months would roll to the next month three working days prior to the next month.
For example, in July 2026, the M1 assessment would reflect material loading any time in July, and M2 in August. On July 29, the M1 assessment would roll over to reflect butadiene loading in August and M2 in September 2026.
Following the introduction of new forward month assessments, the assessment of the existing FOB Rotterdam 3-30 days (PHAKG00) would take into consideration the normalization of M1 and M2 values across its 3-30 days forward delivery basis.
The new assessments would have a 16:30 London time stamp and would follow the UK publishing schedule.
The European butadiene price assessments can be found in the Platts Olefinscan and on S&P Global Energy Core, accompanied by a weekly commentary published on Fridays.
