Platts proposes to launch additional non-biomass UK REGOs assessments, Aug. 24

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, proposes to launch two additional non-biomass UK Renewable Guarantees of Origin price assessments, effective Aug. 24, 2026.

This is in response to market feedback calling for greater price transparency on later Compliance Periods (CPs) for UK REGOs. The assessments would complement Platts' existing offerings in the UK REGOs market, including non-bio and bio current CP to CP02 assessments.

The assessments would reflect the non-biomass UK REGOs for CP03 and CP04. Platts rolls the compliance period reflected in its UK REGO assessments July 2 to reflect the trading of REGOs until they are counted by Ofgem for the Fuel Mix Disclosure -- the main use of these certificates.

From Aug. 24, 2026, to July 1, 2027, Platts would assess the following compliance periods:

  • Compliance period+3 REGOs: CP28
  • Compliance period+4 REGOs: CP29

The proposed assessments would have the following specifications:
