Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, is extending the feedback period for its market consultation on its global molybdenum oxide assessment methodology to June 30, 2026.
Based on market feedback to a consultation initiated Feb. 27, Platts proposes to include in bonded warehouse Shanghai as an additional location while extending the initial consultation to get more granular feedback on three specific items.
Platts is seeking additional feedback comments on, but not limited to, the following in regard to the global molybdenum oxide dealer (MMAYQ00) assessment:
Currently, Platts publishes a high-low assessment range and a mid-point considering pricing information on the following bases: IW Rotterdam, Netherlands; in bonded warehouse Tianjin, China; IW Busan, South Korea; IW US; CIF Nhava Sheva/Mumbai, India; and CIF Japan.
While the original consultation also requested feedback on the reflection of US deal delivery terms, utilizing a regional index basket approach and a defined regional basis for the global assessment, feedback did not broadly support moving forward on any methodology changes related to those topics.
More details of the Platts molybdenum oxide methodology can be found in the Global Steel, Ferrous Scrap, Ferroalloys and Noble Alloys Specifications Guide, available here.
Platts also seeks feedback on the appropriate timing for and implementation of any methodology changes.
Please send any questions, comments or feedback to platts_molybdenum@spglobal.com and pricegroup@spglobal.com by June 30, 2026.
For written comments, please provide a clear indication if comments are not intended for publication by Platts for public viewing. Platts will consider all comments received and will make comments not marked as confidential available upon request.
