Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, is proposing to include in-bonded warehouse Shanghai as a base location in its global molybdenum oxide dealer (MMAYQ00) assessment specifications, effective July 1, 2026.
The proposed inclusion of in-bonded warehouse Shanghai in the global molybdenum oxide assessment follows recent market feedback and observations that bonded warehouses in Shanghai were increasingly used as a base location for delivery of molybdenum oxide powder traded in the North Asia spot market, and its inclusion reflects global trading activity.
Market indications show pricing at this location is at parity to in bonded warehouse Tianjin, China, which is already a location reflected in the global assessment.
Under this proposal, the incoterm and location bases reflected in the global assessment would be as follows:
The assessments impacted by the change include:
| Assessment name | UOM | Daily Assessment Code | Monthly Average Code | Weekly Average Code | Yearly Average Code | Month to date Code |
| Molybdenum Oxide Daily Dealer (Global) | $/ lb Mo | MMAYQ00 | MMAYQ03 | MMAGQ00 | MMAYQ16 | MMAYQ05 |
| Molybdenum Oxide Daily Dealer (Global) | $/mt Mo | MMBYQ00 | MMBYQ03 | N/A | MMBYQ16 | MMBYQ05 |
Platts invites feedback, comments, and questions related to this proposal to platts_molybdenum@spglobal.com and pricegroup@spglobal.com by June 19, 2026.
Platts had previously consulted on the inclusion of in bonded warehouse Shanghai as an additional location on Feb. 27, 2026. More details can be found here.
