Platts to launch phenol DDP NWE contract price assessments

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, will launch new phenol contract price assessments expressed as a premium over benzene and an outright value, effective April 21, 2026.

The assessments will complement Platts existing weekly phenol spot assessments, databased under the codes APHEA00, HPAGF00, and PHAGG00.

The premium will represent the quarterly adder, bilaterally negotiated by sellers and medium-sized buyers, and will be updated at the start of the settlement quarter once Platts has obtained sufficient information under code NPHEN04.

The outright value will be based on a monthly basis under code NPHEM04 and calculated as a sum of the quarterly adder and the relevant month's benzene contract price (AAKJB00) .

The assessments will reflect the following specifications:

DescriptionPhenol

The assessments were first proposed in a subscriber note, Feb. 26, available here: Platts proposes phenol DDP NWE contract price assessments.

The European phenol price assessments can be found in the Platts Solventswire, and on Platts Core and Platts Petrochemical Alert pages 378 and 447, accompanied by a weekly commentary published on Tuesday.
