Platts proposes phenol DDP NWE contract price assessments

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, is proposing to launch new phenol contract price assessments expressed as a premium over benzene and an outright value, effective April 21, 2026.

The proposed assessments would complement Platts' existing weekly phenol spot assessments, databased under the codes APHEA00, HPAGF00, and PHAGG00.

The proposed premium would represent the quarterly adder, bilaterally negotiated by sellers and medium-sized buyers, and would be updated at the start of the settlement quarter once Platts has obtained sufficient information.

The outright value would be databased on a monthly basis and calculated as a sum of the quarterly adder and the relevant month's benzene contract price (AAKJB00).

The proposed assessments would reflect the following specifications:

DescriptionPhenol

Basis and locationDDP NWE
Delivery methodTruck
Contract size6,000-10,000 metric ton/year

The European phenol price assessments can be found in the Platts Solventswire, and on S&P Global Energy Core and Platts Petrochemical Alert pages 378 and 447, accompanied by a weekly commentary published on Tuesday.
