Platts will discontinue California Carbon Offset Next Month, Next December contract assessments, June 1

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, will discontinue its California Carbon Offset Next Month and Next December future contract assessments, effective June 1, 2026.

This follows a proposal published on Feb. 23.

This decision reflects the lack of market activity for forward delivery of CCO offset contracts within the California compliance scheme.

The last publication date for the CCO Next Month and Next December contracts will be May 29, 2026.

The symbols that will be discontinued are as follows:

Assessment nameSymbol
CCO Next Month Strip Current Year VintageARJAK00
CCO Next December Strip Current Year VintageARECC04
CCO Next Month Strip Current Year Vintage MAvgARJAK03
CCO Next December Strip Current Year Vintage MAvgARECC03

The CCO Current Month strip assessment (ARJAJ00) and its corresponding monthly average (ARJAJ03) are unaffected by this decision.

The assessments currently appear in Carbon Markets Daily as well as fixed pages EMA2021, CMA2021, AGP2754 and PEA0758.
