Platts proposes to launch new Delivered South California DDGS assessment

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, is proposing to launch a new daily price assessment for dried distillers grains with solubles, delivered South California, effective April 1, 2026.

South California serves as a key delivery hub for DDGS in the US. The new DDGS assessment would enhance existing Platts animal feed coverage, while also complementing its existing "field to fork," coverage of agricultural markets.

The specifications of the new proposed price assessment would be as follows:

  • Basis and location: Delivered South California
  • Quality: DDGS with protein content minimum of 25%, fat minimum of 6%, Profat combined protein and fat content, minimum of 34%, minimum color of 50 (according to the Hunter L test) and a moisture level in the range of 10% to 12%, standardized to 11.5%
  • Quantity: Assessment reflects one railcar, min 85 short tons-max 120 st net weight.
  • Timing: The assessment reflects rail shipments in the current month, for delivery into South California. This rolls to the next shipment month on the first publication day after the 24th of the month.
  • Unit of Measurement: US dollar/short ton

The new assessment would be published at 1:30 pm CST and would follow a US publishing schedule.

The proposed assessments would be published alongside Platts existing US DDGS CIF New Orleans and Chicago Trucks assessments in Daily Grains, Protein Daily and Biofuelscan, Platts database and on Core
