Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, has launched a weekly Australian beef tallow assessment basis FOB East Coast Australia, effective Jan. 7, 2026.
The launch follows Platts' observation on the growing demand from the sustainable aviation fuels and renewable diesel industries, with increasing exports of Australian beef tallow to the US, Singapore, as well as other locations such as Japan, China and Malaysia. The new assessment aligns with the need for pricing transparency in the region.
The new assessment reflects the price basis Port of Brisbane, East Coast Australia, on a Free-On-Board basis. Pricing information from other East Coast ports, such as Melbourne and Sydney, may be taken into consideration and normalized back to the basis location for assessment purposes.
The assessment has the following specifications:
| Assessment Name | Publi cation Day | Specification | Volume | Timing | Payment |
| Beef tallow FOB East Coast Australia | Wednesday | Free fatty acids (FFA) maximum of 2% Moisture, impurities, and unsaponifiable (MIU) maximum of 1% | 5,000-10,000 mt | 30-60 days forward | Letter of Credit (L/C) |
The assessment is published in US dollar/metric ton ($/mt), reflecting the latest information sourced from the market up to the close of the assessment window at 16:30 Singapore time on Wednesdays and following the Platts Singapore publication calendar.
The assessment considers market information reported to Platts and published throughout the week, including firm bids and offers, transactions and indications, as well as any other data deemed relevant to the assessment process.
The new weekly assessment is published on Platts Biofuels Alert pages 0017 and 0018, in the daily Platts Biofuelscan, the Weekly Biomass-Based Diesel Report and in the Platts price database.
