Platts to launch beef tallow FOB East Coast Australia weekly assessment Jan 7

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, will launch a weekly Australian beef tallow assessment on an FOB East Coast Australia basis, effective Jan. 7, 2026.

The decision follows the growing demand from the sustainable aviation fuels and renewable diesel industries, with increasing exports of Australian beef tallow to the US, Singapore, as well as other locations such as Japan, China, and Malaysia. The new assessment will align with the need for pricing transparency in the region.

The assessment will reflect the price basis Brisbane ports, East Coast Australia, on an FOB basis. Pricing information from other East Coast ports, such as Melbourne and Sydney, may be taken into consideration and normalized back to the basis location for assessment purposes.

The assessment will have the following specifications:

The assessment will consider market information reported to Platts and published throughout the week, including firm bids and offers, transactions and indications, as well as any other data deemed relevant to the assessment process.

The new weekly assessment will be published on Platts Biofuels Alert pages 0017 and 0018, in the daily Platts Biofuelscan, the weekly Biomass-Based Diesel Report and in the Platts price database.
