Production rises 50% year-to-date in 2026

May sales set new record at 110,757 tons

Jamaica-based Caribbean Cement Company Ltd., or Carib Cement, said June 5 that cement supply to the market increased over 20% in recent weeks, following rainfall in April that affected its operations.

The company said, as a result of the increased supply, dispatches to customers increased 23% to 110,757 metric tons in May, higher than its previous monthly record of 108,500 mt in March 2021.

Carib Cement said its response included operational changes, increased warehouse capacity, equipment upgrades and customer engagement. The company said the measures were aimed at supporting cement supply for Jamaica's construction sector.

In another announcement the previous week, Carib Cement said year-to-date cement production rose 50% year over year to 475,082 mt in 2026, while clinker production rose 67% to 334,849 mt.

The two announcements placed the May sales figure in the context of rainfall-related operational disruptions in April, subsequent supply measures and year-to-date production increases.

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, last assessed Clinker CIF Caribbean at $73/mt July 3, down from $78/mt CIF when the assessment was launched May 7.
