HIGHLIGHTS
Production increases 13.44% on year
Clinker exports more than double from 2025
Peru saw a notable increase in cement demand and imports during April 2026, according to the latest monthly statistical report from cement trade group ASOCEM.
The national dispatch of cement reached an estimated 1.08 million metric tons, marking an 11.65% rise from April 2025 and a 10.80% increase over the past 12 months.
Production figures also reflected this upward trend. Cement production in April totaled 970,000 metric tons, up 13.44% year over year. Clinker production, however, declined by 8.38% compared with April 2025, with 720,000 metric tons produced. Despite this monthly drop, clinker production was up 5.76% over the last 12 months.
Imports played a significant role in meeting market needs, though the data shows a shift in timing. Cement imports in April were 14,900 mt, down 72% from April 2025. However, cumulative imports over the past 12 months were up 27%. This suggests that much of the cement imported earlier in the year was dispatched to meet demand in April, rather than relying on new shipments during the month. The majority of April's imports came from Chile (65%) and Vietnam (35%). The average CIF import price was $143.69/mt through the Tacna terminal (up 12% year over year), and $122.76/mt at the port of Matarani (up 60% compared with October 2025).
Clinker imports stood at 102,600 mt, a 46% increase from April 2025 and a 40% rise from the previous year. These imports came primarily through the Port of Callao from South Korea (42%) and the Port of Pisco from Vietnam (58%). Import prices for clinker were $52.53/mt at Callao (up 24% year over year) and $54.20/mt at Pisco (up 30% compared with May 2025).
On the export front, cement shipments abroad totaled 11,800 mt, up 26% year over year, while clinker exports surged to 71,600 mt, more than doubling the volume exported in April 2025.
