PIA will not take place from May 29 to end June 1: INPEX

Union earlier canceled May 27-28 strikes

Bargaining continues at 9.3 mt/y LNG site

The Offshore Alliance has postponed any strike action at the INPEX-operated Ichthys LNG sites in Australia until June 2, an Offshore Alliance spokesperson told Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, on May 29.

"Offshore Alliance members working at INPEX will postpone any Protected Industrial Action until June 2 as further bargaining continues," the spokesperson said.

An INPEX spokesperson told Platts May 29 that the company "has been advised Protected Industrial Action will not take place at Ichthys LNG from May 29 to end June 1."

"INPEX continues to actively engage in good faith to reach a fair and reasonable agreement with employees," the spokesperson said.

"We remain focused on maintaining safe operations at Ichthys LNG -- and importantly, ensuring reliable energy supply to our key trading partners in the Indo-Pacific region amid disruption to global energy markets," the spokesperson added.

The move comes as the Offshore Alliance canceled its planned strike action at the Ichthys LNG sites in Australia over May 27-28, an Offshore Alliance spokesperson told Platts on May 26.

The Ichthys project currently has a nameplate capacity of 9.3 million metric tons/year of LNG, 1.65 million mt/year of LPG and 100,000 barrels/day of condensate, with roughly 70% of LNG output destined for Japanese buyers, according to INPEX.
