Amrize expands North America's largest cement plant, boosts US capacity

Amrize announced the commissioning of an expansion at its Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, cement plant. The project increased the facility's production capacity by 660,000 short tons per year, bringing total annual capacity to 5.5 million short tons, the company said in a press release Dec. 16.

The expansion was part of Amrize's $700 million investment plan for 2025 across its operations. The company said the project aimed to enhance operational efficiency and better meet customer demand.

Amrize said the expansion supported its "Made in America" cement offering. The company said increased capacity would provide builders with American-manufactured cement and contribute to local job creatoin.

"As the largest cement plant in North America, our flagship Ste. Genevieve plant sets the standard in our industry and has helped shape America, from infrastructure and data centers to advanced manufacturing and high-rises," said Jaime Hill, president of Amrize Building Materials. "This expansion further strengthens our market-leading plant, and we are proud to be increasing our domestic manufacturing to deliver quality and reliability as the partner of choice for our customers, while supporting local jobs and communities."

Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, assessed cement CIF Houston at $86/mt on Dec. 11.
