Cement consumption in Peru hits 260,000 mt in Oct
9% increase compared to October 2024
Imports of capital goods and construction materials up
Peru's internal cement consumption index increased in October, reaching 260,000 metric tons, representing a 9% rise compared to the same month in 2024, according to a study from the Instituto Nacional de Estadística e Informática (INEI).
The data, sourced from Cement Producers and SUNAT, indicate that the average cement consumption for 2025 is projected at 221,600 mt, higher than the previous year's average of 209,500 mt.
The trend suggests that cement consumption has been consistently rising, particularly in the latter half of the year, with notable increases observed from May onwards, with all months exceeding 2024 levels.
A similar trend is observed with imports of capital goods and construction materials. INEI's study indicates that Peru had already spent $15.2 million on these imports in January-October 2025. This indicates that spending in 2025 is nearly surpassing that of 2024, when total spending was $15.7 million. The variance for October was 12.8% higher in 2025 than in 2024.
